Unfortunately, most preventive maintenance programs fail to do what they're suppose to do-prevent failute! Some PM tasks actually cause failute. Other don't do any hrm or good. Still others could be effective if they were clearer, less ambigous or performed at a more appropriate interval. Also, many organizations have incorporated condition-based maintenance into thier PM policy, but failed to eliminate the time-base tasks the condition-directed tasks were intended to replace.
